StrataXRT
Silicone gel for prevention and treatment of radiation dermatitis
Description
StrataXRT is an innovative wound gel that creates a film layer specially designed for the prevention and treatment of radiation dermatitis. It is used in small quantities as it spreads very well.
StrataXRT is a bacteriostatic, gas-permeable, waterproof and inert gel. It dries to form a thin, flexible protective layer.
Benefits
StrataXRT enables the skin area affected by radiation dermatitis to:
- Maintain the fragile acid mantle of the skin as StrataXRT has no measurable pH value
- Minimise trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and thereby preserve natural skin hydration
- Promote comfort
- Reduce the acute inflammatory skin response
- Relieve skin inflammatory changes such as dryness, itching, peeling and scaling
- Protect the skin from trauma and friction
- Support a moist wound healing environment during phases when the skin is damaged
- Minimise progression of skin reactions during radiation therapy
Application instructions
It is recommended to start applying StrataXRT after the initial radiation dose and continue for at least 60–90 days (24 hours a day / 7 days a week / twice daily) after radiation therapy. For chronic radiation dermatitis, continuous use is recommended until further improvements are no longer noticeable.
Ensure the affected skin or superficial wound is clean. Gently remove excess exudate or fluid from the affected area before applying the gel. Apply a very thin layer of StrataXRT gel directly to the affected area and allow the gel to dry.
Apply StrataXRT once or twice daily to exposed areas or as directed by a physician. When dry, you can apply sunscreen, cosmetics or clothing over StrataXRT.
For best results, StrataXRT should be maintained in continuous contact with the skin (24 hours a day / 7 days a week). If properly applied, StrataXRT should be dry in 5–6 minutes. If it takes longer to dry, you have probably applied too much. Gently remove excess with a clean tissue or gauze.
