Description

Stratamed is the latest treatment for prevention of abnormal scars that can be applied to non-epithelialised wounds and compromised skin. It supports the skin healing process, leading to reduced incidence of abnormal scars and the best possible therapeutic outcome.

Stratamed is a semi-occlusive, hydrophobic wound gel that does not adhere firmly to newly formed granulation tissue. It can be used immediately after surgical procedures, trauma, skin incisions, burns and radiation therapy, leading to faster re-epithelialisation of damaged skin which dramatically reduces the incidence of abnormal scarring.

Stratamed forms a flexible, protective layer that loosely binds to injured skin and protects it from chemical and microbial invasion. It consists of inert silicone polymers with no measurable pH value, which do not affect the protective acid mantle of the skin and do not react with newly formed epithelial tissue.

Stratamed's protective and hydrophobic silicone film has a semi-occlusive effect and improves tissue hydration of the injured skin area. It does not adhere firmly to newly formed granulation tissue, enabling faster keratinocyte migration across the wound.

Stratamed restores the barrier function of the stratum corneum, reduces trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and stops skin dehydration. This leads to normalised collagen production levels, resulting in a normal mature scar. Stratamed modulates basic fibroblastic growth factor (bFGF) levels, preventing the formation of hypertrophic scar tissue.

Application instructions

Ensure the affected skin or superficial wound is clean. Gently dry excess exudate or fluid from the affected area before applying the gel.

For best results, Stratamed should be maintained in continuous contact with the skin (24 hours a day / 7 days a week). If you have rinsed off Stratamed gel, reapply it.

If properly applied to exposed areas, Stratamed should be dry in 5–6 minutes. If it takes longer to dry, you have probably applied too much. Gently remove excess with a clean tissue or gauze and allow the drying process to continue.
