Clinical examples
A 41-year-old patient with breast cancer. After radiotherapy she underwent tissue expander placement for breast reconstruction. A 30 x 10 cm dressing was applied to the surgical incision. The patient was discharged home with the PICO 7 system in place. PICO 7 was removed on day 11, when the incision had closed.
A 65-year-old patient with osteoarthritis, plus hypertension and type 2 diabetes. A 30 x 20 cm dressing was applied to the post-operative incision. The patient was discharged home on day 5 with the PICO 7 system. The wound healed well and by day 7 there was no visible exudate or infection. PICO 7 was removed on day 9, when the wound had closed.
An 80-year-old patient with an unhealed burn wound on the knee. Surgical debridement and split-thickness skin graft were performed. CUTICERIN acetate mesh was placed as a contact layer between the graft and the PICO 7 dressing. The patient was discharged home after two days with the PICO 7 system. On day 3, vacuum loss occurred with a leak warning light; the problem resolved on its own. The skin graft took successfully on day 5 of therapy and the PICO 7 system was removed, with therapy continued using ACTICOAT Flex and conventional dressings.
A 52-year-old patient with a post-operative ventral hernia following diverticulitis surgery. A 30 x 10 cm dressing was applied to the post-operative wound. Therapy was discontinued on day 6, when the wound had closed with no visible exudate or infection. Clinicians were extremely satisfied with the PICO 7 system performance, recognising that it was superior to advanced wound dressings in this case.
