IODOSORB

Cadexomer dressing and powder with iodine

Description

Cadexomer dressing with iodine, available in three forms: ointment, dressing and powder; removes barriers to healing through dual action – antimicrobial and devitalised tissue removal.

Broad-spectrum antimicrobial action is ensured by sustained iodine release, and devitalised tissue removal is enabled by the unique cadexomer matrix. By effectively removing the barrier of bacteria, devitalised tissue, debris and excess exudate, IODOSORB is effective for treating infection in chronic exuding wounds.

When applied to the wound, it absorbs exudate and cleanses the wound (debridement). As it slowly fills with exudate, it gradually releases iodine, eliminating microorganisms and forming a protective gel over the wound surface. Unlike povidone iodide dressings which release iodine immediately upon application, IODOSORB slowly releases iodine through its cadexomer base and therefore does not cause cytotoxic effects.

IODOSORB iodine cadexomer products are used in the treatment of chronic wounds such as leg ulcers (venous, arterial, mixed aetiology), pressure ulcers, and infected exuding wounds.
