ACTICOAT
Antimicrobial barrier dressing with nanocrystalline silver
Description
Acticoat with SILCRYST silver nanocrystals is an antimicrobial dressing whose antimicrobial effect acts within the dressing as well as in the wound bed, significantly promoting faster healing.
Nanocrystalline silver differs from ordinary ionic silver by its enormous surface area. This porous silver structure enables faster release of its ions. Smaller particles = greater surface area = higher solubility and bioactivity.
Acticoat 3 is effective for at least three days. Acticoat 7 is effective for at least 7 days.
Acticoat is an effective barrier against 150 pathogens including a wide spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial and fungal pathogens. Acticoat is also effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE).
Acticoat is applied to promote wound healing and prevent infection development in wounds with a high risk of infection. This means greater patient safety, shorter hospital stays and lower treatment costs.
